MENTOR Vermont spearheads local, regional, and statewide efforts to raise public awareness of the benefits of mentoring and the need for more volunteers. This includes promoting mentoring programs and stories to the media, assisting programs with their public relations efforts, implementing an annual mentoring celebration at the Vermont Statehouse during National Mentoring Month, leading local and national advocacy efforts, and collaborating with MENTOR’s national mentoring affiliate network.

MENTOR Vermont is the state affiliate of MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership. We are a part of MENTOR’s network of more than 25 mentoring partnerships across the country.
MENTOR is the lead champion for youth mentoring in the United States.
Its mission is to fuel the quantity and quality of mentoring relationships for America’s young people and to close the mentoring gap.
As a member of the MENTOR affiliate network, MENTOR Vermont serves a unique role as a clearinghouse for training, resources, public awareness and advocacy, providing the critical link between MENTOR’s national efforts and local organizations and programs that foster and support quality mentoring relationships.
Since 2014, MENTOR Vermont has partnered with MENTOR to offer mentoring programs in Vermont the opportunity to apply for individualized program assistance through the National Mentoring Resource Center at no cost to them or their agencies. This program assistance is provided by local experienced mentoring coordinators and experts in the field.
MENTOR also maintains the nationally renowned Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring™, now in its fourth edition. This keystone publication on mentoring standards details research-informed and practitioner-approved Standards for creating and sustaining quality youth mentoring programs and consequently, impactful mentoring relationships. The Fourth Edition, released in September 2015, reflects the most up-to-date research, practice, and thinking in the mentoring field. The Elements are the backbone of the National Quality Mentoring System.
